SLG, a design-led international beauty brand, tasked Modus with creating a workspace that embodied their bold, adventurous spirit and elevated employee creativity. Located in Cheltenham, Studio 19 was designed to reflect SLG’s innovative approach to beauty and their commitment to pushing boundaries. Working closely with SLG’s CEO, Miles Dunkley, Modus transformed a 30,000 sq ft concrete shell into a vibrant, multi-functional workspace that perfectly captures the brand’s unique identity.

Project in Brief

  • Transformed 30,000 sq ft into a vibrant workspace in Cheltenham.
  • Bold elements like an orange glass meeting room and a red shipping container shop.
  • Includes a lab, workshop, and dynamic zones for creativity and collaboration.

Bold Design Reflecting SLG’s Personality

Studio 19 was designed to be more than just an office, it’s a physical representation of SLG’s daring brand. Key design elements include an orange glass box meeting room, a striking red shipping container shop, and bleacher seating, all bringing energy and creativity to the space. The combination of raw industrial finishes, such as exposed concrete and steel, with soft, tactile elements, including plush furnishings and feature lighting, creates a balanced environment that inspires employees while staying true to SLG’s identity. Every detail of the design reinforces the brand’s adventurous and creative DNA.

Dynamic Workspaces Designed for Innovation

Unexpected and playful features make Studio 19 stand out. A skateboard-friendly freeway and biophilic walls energise the space, while distinct work zones provide areas for focused tasks and collaboration. Including a lab and workshop supports SLG’s creative process, allowing teams to move seamlessly between brainstorming sessions and hands-on product development. These features were informed by SLG’s culture of innovation and their need for a dynamic, employee-focused environment.

Studio 19 serves as a hub that reflects the brand’s creative heritage while providing an inspiring space for employees and visitors. By integrating elements that encourage creativity and engagement, Modus created a workspace that redefines what a workspace can be, offering a bold, collaborative environment that energises employees and reflects SLG’s forward-thinking personality.
