In 2023, we achieved a number of significant milestones, including becoming both a B Corp-certified business and a Construct Zero partner, reflecting our commitment to sustainable construction and social value. Our 2023 ESG impact report highlights some of our key sustainability achievements over the year. The report includes a breakdown of our 2023 carbon emissions and further details on our carbon reduction schemes, inclusive procurement strategy and community involvement. The report also outlines our 2024 targets to reduce emissions further, expand community partnerships, and enhance material tracking and reporting.

Key Projects

  • 151 Farringdon Road: This 77,000 sq ft commercial project, a mixture of Cat A, Cat A+, Cat B, and Cut & Carve, which emphasises sustainability through low-carbon concrete and reused materials, will be completed in Q2 2024.
  • 163-203 Eversholt Street: A 40,000 sq ft Grade II listed building refurbishment completed in Q4 2023, focusing on carbon savings and energy efficiency.
  • 7 Bishopsgate: An 8,320 sq ft modern Tenant-Ready™ space completed in Q3 2023, designed to enhance productivity and employee satisfaction.

Achievements

We won the Plastic Reduction category award from The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and were shortlisted for two categories: Sustainability Award & Community Engagement Award in the National Building and Construction Awards (NBCA). Our transition from a Construct Zero Partner to a Construct Zero Business Champion reflects our substantial efforts in carbon reduction and community involvement.

Environmental Impact

Sustainable practices were integrated across all operations, with Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions being measured. Key initiatives included transitioning to all-electric office spaces, improving on-site waste management, and adopting circular economy principles.

Social Impact

We supported local communities through targeted charity support and volunteering. Key projects included partnerships with organisations like All Change and C4WS, and in 2023, we raised a total of £14,168 for various charities.

Governance

Being accredited with ISO 45001 ensures robust health and safety measures. We also prioritise employee wellbeing, with 33% of our workforce trained as Mental Health First Aiders.

Looking Ahead

In 2024, our team are on track to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2027 and provide substantial carbon savings through all projects. Implementing circular economy principles and improving data collection will be key environmental focuses. Socially, we aim to expand our network of community partnerships and develop an employability program to assist young people in construction careers. Governance goals include increasing female representation and enhancing material tracking and reporting.
