Travelfusion, a global travel technology company, needed an office design that would merge elements of travel with the vibrant Memphis design movement. The goal was to create a unique and modern workspace that reflected their innovative spirit and complemented the prestigious “Can of Ham” building in London.
Project in Brief
- Merged travel themes with the bold, colourful Memphis design movement.
- Incorporated arrow graphics and airport-inspired wayfinding for a cohesive travel theme.
- Created an open-plan layout with collaborative zones and glass-fronted meeting rooms.
Blending Travel and Memphis Design
Travelfusion’s office design combines two key themes: travel and the Memphis design movement. Memphis, known for its colourful, abstract, and whimsical style, is showcased through bold patterned ceramic tiles, geometric wall prints, and striking fabrics. Luxurious terrazzo-effect flooring adds a touch of sophistication, while pop art-inspired breakout area furniture keeps the space modern. The diverse colour scheme ensures the office remains lively and contemporary, reflecting both the company’s dynamic nature and the revival of Memphis style.
Functional and Collaborative Spaces
To reinforce the travel theme, Travelfusion’s in-house graphic design team created arrow graphics on the exposed concrete flooring, mimicking an airport runway. Wayfinding signs, inspired by British Airport Authority signage, enhance the travel experience throughout the space. The open-plan layout, featuring glass-fronted meeting rooms and collaborative zones inspires teamwork and interaction. The design even aligns the office to face true north, symbolising Travelfusion’s forward-thinking approach. The result is a modern workspace, visually striking and fully functional, that will serve Travelfusion well into the future.
