Modus Wins BCO ESG Regional 2025 Award
Modus, part of Workplace Futures Group, has won the ESG category at the BCO Awards 2025, South of England and South Wales region, for their work with Nomad Foods’ UK headquarters.
The ESG category is one of the most important at the BCO Awards. Unlike other categories, it is not open for entries, the judges select one project from across the shortlisted schemes that sets the standard for environmental and social responsibility. For 2025, they chose Modus and Nomad Foods, making this recognition especially meaningful.
The Nomad Foods project took a layered approach to reuse, avoiding landfill wherever possible:
- 475 items repurposed for use in the new office
- 209 items sold, raising £1,614 for Grocery Aid
- 49 items donated to charities connected to employees
- 76 items donated to 17 local schools via the Xavier Education Trust
- 12 items transferred to another Nomad office
Nomad Foods is Europe’s largest frozen food company, home to brands like Birds Eye, Findus and iglo. Their new headquarters needed to reflect who they are as a business, and Modus brought that to life through design that takes cues from the food supply chain itself. Pendant lights made from food waste, carpets woven from recycled fishing nets, acoustic panels from recycled bottles, and even an integrated herb garden all nod to the company’s roots in sustainable food. With spaces such as a Tranquillity Room, a Multi-Faith Room, and an Urban Salad Wall alongside a programme of activities like free yoga, the staff have a variety of wellbeing initiatives to choose from.
It’s a proud moment for us to see Modus recognised in this way. Their achievement reflects the quality of their work and the values that run through our group as a whole.
