Two partnered with Kin & Carta (now a part of Valtech) to refurbish their 11,500 sq ft office across three floors of The Spitfire Building in King’s Cross. The brief was to create a future-ready workspace that encourages flexibility, collaboration, and employee wellbeing. The design also addressed acoustics and space utilisation challenges, ensuring the office supported hybrid working while reflecting Kin & Carta’s innovative culture.
Project in Brief
- Refurbished an 11,500 sq ft office to align with hybrid working needs.
- Created collaborative and flexible areas tailored to diverse work styles.
- Addressed acoustic challenges with suspended ceiling rafts for improved sound quality.
A Workspace That Inspires
Kin & Carta’s shift to a hybrid working model influenced every design aspect. Two reduced desk density and introduced a variety of workspaces, including collaboration zones, focus areas, and adaptable layouts. These spaces encourage employees to return to the office by offering settings that suit different working styles. The office’s flexibility fosters teamwork while giving individuals the tools they need to work effectively.
The location in King’s Cross, one of London’s most vibrant business hubs, also shaped the design. The refurbishment enhanced the Spitfire Building’s unique industrial aesthetic, blending modern functionality with the character of its surroundings. This connection to the dynamic neighbourhood creates an inspiring environment for employees and visitors.
Inclusive and Adaptive
Employee wellbeing was central to the refurbishment. Two improved the sensory experience through thoughtful layouts, biophilic elements, and acoustic solutions. Suspended ceiling rafts in meeting rooms addressed sound quality issues, creating a more comfortable and productive environment. Including greenery and calming features promotes focus and relaxation, supporting both creative and analytical work.By prioritising inclusivity and adaptability, the refurbishment enables Kin & Carta’s teams to collaborate, innovate, and thrive in a workspace designed for their best work.
